See our 2009 competitive calendar here [ Calendario2009.pdf ] Jet Ski was born in the USA in the late 70s, arriving in Portugal around 1986. Nowadays it stands as a recognized sport by the IDP (Portuguese Sport Institute) and attracts more and more audience, specially the young crowds, benefiting from TV shows in channels such as: RTP2, SIC, SICRadical, Extreme Sports Channel, Sailing Channel, Eurosport, etc. Alessandro Balzer was the man who pioneered this sport in Portugal and in Europe. He began his career in 1990 and climbed to the podium in his first ever event. From this point onwards the good results continued. During the 15 years dedicated to being a professional racing pilot he has always achieved the top places becoming World Offshore Champion in 1999 and 2004 in France and Spain. In 2002 he was the 2nd placed pilot in the world’s toughest race, the JET RAID, a race of 2500 km on a Jet Ski between Senegal and Guinea Bissau. To this result he adds over 20 National and European titles in different classes, making Alessandro Balzer the best pilot in Portugal of all time and one of the best in the world. It’s a success that he shares, because throughout the years he has had several teams and captained several teams that where always victorious. In 2004 the Dream Team by Angel Pilot was created, combining the unmatched experience of the leader, with the development of new young pilots, hence making this a timeless success story at all levels. Over the past 4 years several people became part of the team contributing to its enormous success in the national scene and setting the pace for teams competing in Europe. The last year could hardly have seen better results. Dream Team consisted of 4 pilots: Filipe Filipe, Emanuele Balzer, Stefania Balzer and Pedro Coelho who between them gained 6 national titles in the most competitive classes. For 2009 the team is counting on Emanuele Balzer and Stefania Balzer, and may recruit more pilots subject to acquiring more sponsorship deals. The Teams name will change to Balzer Racing.
